The People
The Family Behind Our Studio
Victoria
I’m Victoria, the independent yarn dyer behind Tori Fiber Arts. My studio is based in Las Vegas.
I am mostly self-taught in dyeing, knitting, crochet, and Tunisian crochet through numerous YouTube videos, blog posts, and a lot of castin’ and froggin’.
When I’m not surrounded by yarn, you can find me in the kitchen, whipping up goodies for gifting!
Lou
There has been one person who has supported me throughout the years – my husband, Lou.
I am thankful for his genuine feedback and opinions on my endeavors. He is a big part of how I came into the person who I am today.
I met Lou back in 2017 along with his pup Tali, who was (and still is) a radiant ball of love and energy.
We got married back in late September of 2022 by Lake Jacqueline in Desert Shores of Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by family and friends.
We work together in our small family business during the day.
Lew
My father-in-law, Lew, gave way to an incredibly valued equipment to my toolset – the camera. He fondly showed me the basics of how to use it and how to pick which lens to use for different settings.
Through his generosity, I am able to bring everyone high quality images.
He’s always treated me with kindness and I am grateful to have him in our lives.
Sarah
My dear friend and mentor, Sarah, was my inspiration in getting back into yarn-y business.
I’ve known her to gift heirloom blankets to her children and grandchildren. The concept of making something to last through lifetimes is something I found special and endearing – a stark contrast with mass-produced goods that are widely available.
Sarah gifted me some skeins of yarn. And when I finally took them off of the closet shelf – I found myself making time for fiber arts, every day, no matter how little.
She taught me many things, and one of them is baking as well!
We would have baking marathons a week or two leading up to Christmas, making delicious goodies to give away to family and friends – and to taste test, of course!
Michele
Behind all my previous projects, my late mother-in-law Michele was my co-designer. She was a woman with many talents and she used to design and sew her own clothing. She was also a seasoned decorator and beautified many homes across the valley.
She battled cancer with ferocity for 3 years. She came to the office to work before and/or after her chemotherapy and radiation therapy appointments. As the treatments progressed, her cold tolerance significantly diminished. From there, the Skyscraper Shawl was born, and it was a piece well-loved.
Needless to say, many more of my projects were dedicated to her until the end.
